I grew up in South Florida, tearing through books (sometimes literally), spending many hours at the local library.

I moved to the Connecticut shoreline about 8 years ago. I am still an avid reader, though trying to be gentler on the books…  I learned to read with Archie comic books, and love a wide variety of genres, from Shakespeare to Stephen King, Dorothy Parker to Nancy Drew.

I am not a one-trick pony, however, and like to do things besides read (i know – gasp!)…  I love checking out new pubs & restaurants, roller-blading, hearing live music, painting, laughing, watching plays and dancing, dancing, dancing.

My favorite movies include The Princess Bride (also an awesome book!), Alien/s and Zoolander. My music tastes also run the gamut from the Beatles to Daft Punk to Beethoven.  I also enjoy talking with people and welcome your comments, in person or online.

And if you ever have any questions about books, libraries, or even reference Q’s– let me know, I’m glad to try and answer them.

Katy, is this blog new? I love it!!!! I’m so glad you are writing about books. Seems like I will have to buy books now (uuurg) since there is not much inventory of English books in the local libraries. Glad I can turn to you for suggestions!

    • I started writing as a ‘local voice’ for a local online news site, the Branford Patch. I retain the rights to my ‘writes’ tho, so I figured I’d also maintain my own blog thing over here. Thanks for the thumbs-up!

You can also read free ebooks, if you’re in the mood for that sort of thing. The classics are generally available for download – just search ‘free ebooks’. Google has some, Project Gutenberg has some, Internet Archive (http://www.archive.org/)… these are just a few place for free online texts to read… not quite the same as a printed book, but maybe can help scratch some of English-book-itch. Plus, you won’t get yelled at for dog-earing pages of a digital copy!! :)

  2. Thank you for following my writing journey on queenofquery.wordpress.com! I wish you all the best.
